Continuous Support from the Government of Yogyakarta Special Region for WMP-Yogya
The World Mosquito Program (WMP) Yogyakarta Team was honored to have an audience with the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X on 3 February 2020.
In this occasion, Prof. Adi Utarini as in-country Principal Investigator of WMP-Yogya together with WMP-Yogya team and Tahija Foundation as represented by, Mr. Anastasius Wahyuhadi (Board of Trustee) and Mr. Trihadi Saptoadi (Chairman) showed the interim results of the Wolbachia mosquito technology research and future implementation plans, as well as asking for directions and input from the Governor.
The Governor expressed his appreciation for the progress of the project and hope that the research can be implemented soon to reduce the incidence of dengue in the community. The Governor also expressed his gratitude to Tahija Foundation for funding the WMP-Yogya research. “Thank you to the Tahija Foundation, which for the last 10 years has supported Wolbachia mosquito research as a solution to eradicate dengue in the future.”
The hearing was also attended by the Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Provincial Health Office, drg. Pembayun Setyaning Astutie, M. Kes.; Regional Secretariat Assistant of Special Region of Yogyakarta, Mr. Sigit Sapto Rahardjo and Chairman of the Regional Research Council, Ir. KPH Bayudono Suryoadinagoro, MSc.
