Preserving Precious Sight

The eyes are the window to the world. Recognizing this, on February 8, 2025, Yayasan Tahija donated a Natus Envision RetCam to Klinik Mata Nusantara (KMN) EyeCare to help prevent blindness in premature babies weighing less than 1,500 grams who are at risk of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). This advanced technology enables early detection of retinal blood vessel abnormalities, allowing timely medical intervention to prevent vision loss.
Through a humanitarian partnership, Yayasan Tahija, KMN EyeCare, and ophthalmic subspecialists trained in Retinal Camera (RETCAM) technology collaborate to ensure accurate early detection. Dr. Sjakon G. Tahija, SpM., Medical Director of KMN EyeCare, emphasized that KMN EyeCare uses the RetCam solely for patient care, and does not take any profit, as Yayasan Tahija donated it for humanitarian purposes.
This partnership facilitates prompt treatment, enhances the quality of life for affected infants, and alleviates the emotional and financial burden on families.
