In their silver anniversary Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (AIPI) featured four breakthrough researches including Eliminate Dengue Project-Yogyakarta that aims to control dengue using the Wolbachia bacteria. Dr Sjakon Tahija, chairman of the board of trustee of the Tahija Foundation introduced the EDP research. The academy expects this novel approach to control the disease to become an alternative solution to dengue problem in Indonesia.
