In order to support the control of Corona virus 2019 (“COVID-19”) pandemic in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas, Yayasan Tahija in collaboration with the Head of the Health Research and Development Agency (Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kesehatan –Balitbangkes) of the Ministry of Health of the republic of Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University (“UGM“), shared Yayasan Tahija Diagnostics laboratory (WMP-Yogyakarta) that located in the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing of UGM, Yogyakarta for COVID-19 screening.

Since April 7, 2020 Yayasan Tahija (WMP-Yogya) BSL-2 plus Diagnostic Laboratory has been fully used for screening COVID-19 samples. The lab currently extracted 38 COVID-19 RNA samples from patient per day, with qPCR performed on the same day. In one week, 230 samples were screened, with test results that can be obtained in 24-48 hours since the day the samples were processed.  If the number of samples increases, the diagnostic lab can screen up to 800 samples per week.

We hope the laboratory could provide a fast and accurate diagnostic results to support the control of COVID-19 in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.
